Patrick Grady
Ross Muir Artist with Patrick Grady MP

I am delighted to welcome Ross Muir as the latest artist to take part in my project to promote local creative talent in my constituency.

Ross is an emerging artist based in Glasgow with an interest in portraiture painting and figurative art. In 2014 he became a full time artist and has exhibited professionally in the last two years.

  Concept and design

Ross is a highly talented Scottish contemporary artist who brings shape and meaning to the world around him in a variety of mediums through oils, pen, and even skilfully using teacake and biscuit wrappers to highlight form and manipulate light.

His portrait oil paintings of women, such as Farewell, draw the viewer in to a particular time and place and his mixed media Let Glasgow Flourish depicts the symbolism of Glasgow with a modern take on the coat of arms.

It’s wonderful to see a local artist work so creatively with new mediums, and bring the spirit of Glasgow to life in his art. The coat of arms, with the tree, bird, fish and bell are beautifully highlighted by teacake and biscuit wrappers, which adds another dimension to a well known emblem of Glasgow. It’s a pleasure to have Ross’s work on display for all to enjoy, and I hope more people begin to realise what a wealth of talent we have in Glasgow North.

A selection of Ross's best artwork is on display in my constituency office where you can view it until the middle of October.
