SNP MPs have signed a letter to Priti Patel, the newly appointed Secretary of State at the Department for International Development (DFID), urging her to ensure the department continues its global role and retract from her comments on DFID being ‘low priority’.
The letter that has cross party support, also follows on from Priti Patel's previous comments that called for scrapping the department she now heads and her appointment of UK aid funding critic, Robert Oxley, as her special advisor.
Patrick Grady MP for Glasgow North was delighted to hear more about Heart Valve Voice and heart valve disease in the UK. He had his heart checked for heart valve disease at an awareness event, hosted by Heart Valve Voice at UK Houses of Parliament. This involved a heart specialist listening to their heart using a stethoscope, one of the first steps taken to detect heart valve disease. A doctor can listen for a characteristic heart ‘murmur’ via a stethoscope, which is usually the first indication of a problem with the heart valves. This is often followed up with an echocardiogram test to confirm the diagnosis.
